The Chimney Sweep Apprentice will learn their skills through on the job training, working with a professional, CSIA certified chimney sweep. As a Chimney Sweep Apprentice, you will perform many duties associated with cleaning and maintaining the chimney. The Apprentice cleans out soot and debris from the chimney and assists in making repairs to the chimney as needed. The position can be filled with other repair work and tasks, including, but not limited to:
1. Inspect chimneys from inside residential homes, and from the exterior, top of chimneys
2. Sweep chimneys, dryer vents, furnace flues
3. Assist in the repair of chimneys, dryers and dryer vent systems
4. Learn light masonry skills and repairs
5. Properly Dispose of Removed Materials.
6. Clean and maintain service equipment.
7. Proper execution of required billing documents.
This position operates in all types of indoor and outdoor work environments; therefore, exposure to heat and cold, is to be expected, as is exposure to the elements of rain, snow, sleet and windy conditions. Job duties will be performed at customer’s homes on service calls. Individuals must be able to do heavy lifting, climb ladders and be unafraid of heights. The job is dirty, and protective clothing will be provided.
Starting wage is $11/hour; you will enjoy 8 Paid Holidays/Year
After 1 Year of Service, employees receive 1 week paid vacation
