All About Our Chimney & Fireplace Repair Services

Alright, so you’ve seen the list of all we can do…but what do these services actually entail?

Well, we offer chimney and fireplace repair services that guarantee better-looking, longer-lasting systems. These include masonry services, like tuckpointing and brick repair/replacement, as well as chimney damper repair, fireback installation, firebox repair, and smoke chamber parging.

Now, damper repair is often as easy as replacing an old and damaged damper, while firebox repair and smoke chamber parging are more extensive, requiring us to use special tools and equipment to ensure your fires both burn effectively and safety distribute any smoke or fumes outside of your home.

Water problems? With constant exposure to the elements, chimneys can develop all kinds of issues, such as deteriorating masonry, damaged flashing, or worn-out chimney caps. Water and unprotected masonry are no match for each other. Unfortunately, with those things, the likelihood of experiencing masonry deterioration, mold growth, cracking, decay, flue clogs, stains, and more will go up significantly. We can tackle any leak-related damages you’re facing.

Finally, let’s touch on our relining services. A faulty liner can lead to inefficiency, a crumbling structure, and harmful fumes entering your home. When it comes to chimney health, this is one area where you simply cannot skimp. Fortunately, we can resolve your issues with HeatShield® or a new stainless steel liner – both are great options that we would be happy to discuss with you.

If there’s one thing we know, it’s that neglected chimneys break down a lot quicker than those that get routine professional care. In the end, deteriorating masonry and busted up fireplace parts will lead to inefficiency, a lowered house value, and potentially dangerous scenarios for your household.

How Often Should I Book Chimney Maintenance?

Chimneys, much like any other component of your home, require regular attention and care to remain in the best condition possible.

That’s why we always recommend you book annual chimney and fireplace inspections, along with a professional chimney sweep service. Having these done on a yearly basis helps us get an up-close look at the state of your chimney and identify potential issues before they escalate to costly problems.

I have used Becks so long that the founder Gene used to clean my fireplace in the mid 90’s. He passed on his attention to detail to the current ownership and they are the best in the business.
I will always go to Becks because I know exactly what I’m getting in top shelf service for an appropriate price. If your engage them you have landed in the right place.

What if I Don’t Use My Fireplace…Do I Still Need an Annual Inspection?

This is a great question… After all, if you never utilize your fireplace, what good will a chimney inspection do? Wouldn’t that just be a waste of money?

Well, the answer may surprise you, but…even if you don’t use your fireplace ever, annual inspections are still a must.

Why?

  • Addressing hidden issues and animals. The top of your chimney sits a few feet above the roofline and unless you frequently visit your roof, you’d have no reason to know if any parts are damaged or in need of repair. Of particular concern in systems that don’t see regular fires (or any at all), is the very real possibility of animal intrusion.
  • Spotting damaging debris. For as problematic and troublesome as animals can be to your system’s overall health, they’re certainly not the only external threat. Anything that can blow about in the breeze and become lodged in some crack or crevice, absolutely will – and if left for too long, can contribute to general structure deterioration and degradation. This could eventually cause damage to other parts of your home as well.
  • Staying ahead of general wear and tear. Even if your flue walls are safe from the likes of excessive heat and contact with harsh fumes, it doesn’t mean your chimney system is exempt from old age and overall wear and tear. Regardless of your specific chimney type or the fuel that you burn, the materials that make up your system will begin to deteriorate over time. This means that if you ever do choose to light a fire someday – and you haven’t had the system recently inspected – you’re putting yourself, your family, and your home in danger.
  • Maintaining home value. The market value of well-maintained fireplaces – and the potential benefit you could miss out on if you ever decided to sell your home – could be threatened if you haven’t properly cared for your appliance over the years. Don’t let hidden surprises pop up when you finally get your home on the market!

We’ve all been there – putting off those annoying maintenance tasks until we completely forget about them…especially if we hardly use that appliance. Don’t make a mistake that could compromise the safety and value of your home. Call us out today!
